Letters Between Christina Crawford's Attorney and Joan Crawford's Estate Attorneys

Regarding Christina's Canceled Second Deposition on August 31st, 1978

A second deposition of Christina Crawford was scheduled for August 31st - September 1st, 1978 in Manhattan, New York. On the morning of August 31st, Christina and her attorney did not appear for the scheduled deposition. Christina's attorney claimed she suffered from "extreme chest pains" and was "violently ill." When asked if Christina would appear on September 1st, since the deposition was scheduled for two days, Christina's attorney stated she "had to return to California."

Coincidentally, this suddenly aborted second deposition corresponded with the unexpected publishing of an article Christina wrote for "New York" magazine. "New York" published the article as their September 1978 cover story, and it was made available on news stands the last week of August 1978. The article radically contradicted Christina's February 1978 deposition, whereby Christina claimed she and her mother enjoyed a close and untroubled relationship.

The below correspondences between Joan Crawford's Estate's attorney and Christina Crawford's attorney memorialize these events.
